Tarkanian Basketball Academy is a non-profit 501C-3 organization dedicated to helping youth achieve their goals in sport and life.

The mission of Tarkanian Basketball Academy is to provide opportunities for youth to develop leadership skills, work ethic, commitment, honesty and integrity through sport. We believe that sport teaches life lessons that can help people of all ages with success on and off the court.

Tarkanian Basketball Academy believes in the effectiveness of positive role models, and is active in the fight against drugs and alcohol.

History
Jerry Tarkanian retired this season after 43 years as a head basketball coach. He won more collegiate games than any other coach(990), and finished his career with the sixth most career wins and the sixth highest winning percentage (79.6%) in NCAA Division I history. He averaged 25 wins a season as a Division I head basketball coach.

Tarkanian took 17 teams to the NCAA tournament. His teams made it to the "Sweet 16" thirteen times, to the "Final Eight" seven times and made four Final Four appearances. His 1990 UNLV team won the National Championship by the largest margin in NCAA history (30 points). Tarkanian coached UNLV for 19 years, winning 82.9% of his games. His last ten teams at UNLV averaged 31 wins per season.

He left UNLV in 1992 with the highest Division I winning of all time.





Danny Tarkanian was a two-time all-state basketball player for Bishop Gorman High School before playing for the Runnin' Rebels from 1981-1984. He was a two-time academic All-American, and two-time all-conference player for the Rebels and left school as the all-time leader in asists and steals. He was drafted in the 7th round of the NBA draft by the San Antonio Spurs. For seven years Danny was the assistant coach for his father at Fresno State.
